the wonderful 101 review & Remastered – Nintendo Switch Brand: Nighthawk Interactive

the wonderful 101 review : The highs of The Wonderful 101 were a number of my best gaming moments of 2013 – and wouldn’t you recognize it, seven years later it still hasn’t lost its Platinum luster. Tragically, relatively few action game fans need to experience it because it’s been limited to the Wii U so far , but The Wonderful 101 Remastered has finally escaped onto Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC and it’s equally nearly as good because the 2013 original.

In fact, it’s even a touch bit better because of smoother performance, faster load times, and a couple of smart additions that make its notorious learning curve a touch easier.

I wish it’d gone further with those and done more with the visual upgrade to justify the “remastered” label as against being a straight port with a couple of tweaks. but this is often still the definitive version of 1 of the foremost refreshingly different and endearing action games ever made.

Introducing about the wonderful 101 review

Playing The Wonderful 101 for the primary time on “normal” difficulty may be a stressful, headache-inducing experience that, nevertheless, delivers a real thrill. this is not a game that feels as if it’s skilled many concept and development meetings, nor through a company machine of focus testing.

but rather sort of a project with leadership that decided to channel their inner child and produce an experience that takes the insanity of action-hero magazine fiction and translates it onto the screen fully intact. It overwhelms the senses then goes further, which makes it wonderful.

What’s immediately charming about The Wonderful 101 is its style and storytelling, which in some senses recalls the wonder of fantastical silliness that wont to be at the core of superhero lore.

Just check out how screen portrayals of Batman have evolved from the technicolor ’60s to the scowling, faux-complex approach of the newest movies.

Action and superheros, with their powers and gadgets, became rather serious material.

as if a person wearing a cape and flying around together with his pants on the surface is deserve evoking any pathos.

The Wonderful 101 scoffs at that, and easily goes for a tale utterly ludicrous yet typical, combined with gameplay quite unlike anything in recent years.

the wonderful 101 review

So this game is cute. I mean, cute AF. Like…we get it, you’re cute.
Initially, it’s pretty fun.

but the controls are annoying, and impossibly precise to the point where if you play anything else. for even one minute, and then resume playing this game, you should essentially restart from mission one just to familiarize yourself once again with the obnoxious controls.

You have to draw circles, draw 90 degree angles, you’re punching, group attacking, using alt-punch to tag[?] enemies so that the other 99 little dudes can hit them in the background while you fight?
Honestly, it’s so needlessly complicated, after a couple plays, maybe 10~15 hours in, I simply lost interest and shelved this title for ever.

the wonderful 101 review

A neat that blends superheroes with tons of action and neat mechanics that involve joining together 100 people into one giant object

A total blast to play, but is sometimes confusing and frustrating, due to either the weird camera or the game not understanding what shape you’re trying to draw

The two above points take some getting used to, but other than that it is a great freaking game! If you love PlatinumGames, check it out!!
